Long before HBC Organics existed, I struggled with sensitive skin, eczema, acne, and products filled with ingredients that simply weren't working for me. I wanted skincare that actually nourished my skin instead of fighting against it—but I couldn't seem to find it.
That search became the beginning of a journey that would completely change my life.

Hi, I'm Jes Kellaway, founder and formulator of HBC Organics.
Since 2010, I've dedicated my life to creating handcrafted skincare that's rooted in nature, guided by education, and made with genuine care.
Every product is handcrafted in small batches in Michigan using thoughtfully selected ingredients—including nourishing plant oils, botanical extracts, herbs, clays, essential oils, and skin-loving butters—because I believe what goes on your skin matters just as much as what goes into your body.

It All Started with $20 and a Dream
More than sixteen years ago, I wasn't trying to build a skincare company.
I was simply trying to find relief.
While studying nutrition and becoming a Natural Health Educator, I became fascinated by the connection between natural ingredients and healthy skin. After reading about traditional soap making, I spent the last $20 my fiancé and I had on supplies and made my very first batch of soap.
It was a simple Vanilla Chamomile bar.
I had no idea that one batch would change everything.
For the first time in years, my skin felt calm.
The dryness eased.
My acne began clearing.
My skin finally felt healthy instead of irritated.
Friends and family began asking for bars of their own, and before long, what started as a small kitchen hobby grew into HBC Organics.
Looking back, I never imagined that one little bar of soap would lead me here.

Today, HBC Organics has become so much more than I ever dreamed.
I've had the privilege of helping thousands of customers across the country discover natural skincare they genuinely love.
I've spent over sixteen years researching ingredients, developing original formulas, and continually learning so every product that leaves my studio reflects the highest level of quality I can create.
Although HBC Organics has grown, one thing has never changed...
I'm still deeply involved in nearly every part of the business.
I'm the person developing new recipes.
I'm the one carefully selecting ingredients.
I'm the one pouring candles, cutting soap, answering customer emails, packing orders, and celebrating every review that tells me someone's skin finally feels better.
That personal connection is something I'll never take for granted.
