4 Things You Should Know About Tallow Skincare

Tallow is all the rage in skincare these days.. but honestly it is one of the oldest forms of skincare used. Tallow, whether it be from cows or even bear or deer, has been used for thousands of years in skincare.

Tallow, essentially is fat from a cow. While there is lots of research about using it in cooking, many people are starting to talk about tallow in skincare items. Personally, at HBC Organics, we began our business with a line of soaps with 5 bars.. one was a tallow bar, one was a lard bar, and the other three were plant based. Many people were iffy about using such items in their skincare, however with the growing popularity on social media, many people are giving animal based skincare a try.

~~~ONE~~~
Tallow closely mimics the natural lipid barrier that us humans naturally have on our skin. This is because when rendered (essentially melting and separating the meat, liquids, and other debris from the fat) the profile very closely mimics the good oils we have on our skin. This essentially has been said to aid in the ability to regulate the production of oil on the skin. This is especially helpful for people with oily skin that struggle with acne.
~~~TWO~~~

Postpartum or Menopausal Women with hormonally dry skin? Look no further than tallow. If you have experienced the dry skin associated with fluctuating hormones, you know what it feels like to spend lot on moisturizers that essentially just sit on top of the skin and make it feel oily. Tallow penetrates the skin beautifully due to the high content of amino acids.

~~~THREE~~~
When used to make cold process soap, the bar creates a creamy lather that leaves the skin feeling softer than usual. The bar also is a very hard bar and lasts longer in the shower than it's plant based competitors.
~~~FOUR~~~

It is antimicrobial and antifungal. Foot cream anyone??? Making a balm or lotion with tea tree and tallow- boom bam bingo! Some sources have suggested that tallow very well may protect from infections. So.. why not?

Overall, I've never personally met anyone who dislikes tallow in their skincare items. Which is why I started add an entire line of tallow based products to HBC Organics. We have quite a few different bars, magnesium body butters, balms, and more. Do you want to add tallow items to your shop wholesale or private label? Give me a shout and I'd be happy to work with you!
