Spotlight Sunday- Different Than Usual

Spotlight Sunday- Different Than Usual

A time to prepare.

Funny to think that we have watched movies, read about it, heard the conspiracy theories.. but never really thought it would happen in our lifetime. I personally have had moments over the years where I didn't think things would go south quickly. I never wanted to give way to fear or anything like that- however I just feel now is the time to start talking and keep an open dialogue.

When government and local agencies are starting to say to be prepared, it is something that makes my brain go hmm.. The last time they did this COVID rocked our world for a couple years.

Now Diesel prices are skyrocketing- which means more issues with the food supply. I would love to encourage you all to learn some form of food preservation and things to have on hand. A lot of people say beans and rice- cool but you have to know how to cook that if you loose the ability to use your electricity. What I recommend is freeze dried food to have on hand, you can easily boil a pot of water over a fire to add to this.

Other things I recommend:

-Knowing how to start a fire and getting a waterproof fire starter.

-Get some warm blankets like flannel lined sleeping bags for warm sleeping if heat goes out in the Winter.

-Some cast iron pans to cook over a camp fire with.

-Get a bug out/ survival bag in case something does happen and you don't want to be mad dashing to the grocery store and prices skyrocket or trading for one.

-Learn how to can or dehydrate and start now.

-Have candles on hand.

-Have water on hand for things other than drinking. You can save every big plastic bottle you get and put the right amount of bleach in it to sanitize it for storage.

-Write down numbers for family, friends, etc.

-Have a plan in place- its fun to think about even if you don't have to use it.

-Learn some alternative ways of cooking and eating.

-Learn your herbs & natural health remedies.

-Solar powered generators are pretty cool and lately have been oddly affordable.

-Entertainment options that don't include screens. (Books, puzzles, scavenger hunts, playdough, painting, coloring, story books, dress up for kids)

-Don't prep stuff you don't know how to use or eat. Always have some sweet sugary items and salty items prepped for motivation and for kiddos.

The list can go on and on. As a business owner, I'm doing everything I can to secure some items in small amounts for my customer base like survival bags, books, etc. You will see them in my shop as time goes on. Please grab them and get them in a survival tote for yourself. Think about 2 weeks without power, 2 weeks without cell service.
