Spotlight Sunday: Gentle Care with Our Yoni Bar & Yoni Oil

Let’s talk about a part of skincare that deserves a little more kindness and a lot less embarrassment: intimate care.

Sweat, periods, movement, and everyday life can leave us wanting to freshen up. At HBC Organics, our approach starts with simple ingredients, gentle care, and respect for your body.

This Spotlight Sunday, we’re highlighting our Yoni Bar and Yoni Oil, along with how to use them thoughtfully. Both are for external use only—never inside the vagina.

First, a little anatomy

The vulva is your external genital area. The vagina is the internal canal, which cleans itself and does not need soap, oil, or douching.

Many clinicians recommend warm water alone for the vulva. Other guidance allows a small amount of mild, unperfumed soap on the outside, if your skin tolerates it. You don’t need a special cleanser to be clean, and your natural scent is normal. (uihc.org, nhs.uk)

Sweat, menstrual blood, and normal discharge can collect on the external skin. Gentle washing can remove that residue; scrubbing or repeatedly washing throughout the day can leave sensitive skin feeling worse.

Why gentle cleansing matters

Strongly scented washes, deodorizing products, and cleansers that leave your skin tight or stingy can irritate the vulvar region. Choosing a mild, fragrance-free formula—if you choose to use a cleanser at all—helps keep your routine simple. (health.clevelandclinic.org)

The whole formula matters. A botanical bar isn’t automatically suitable for everyone, and some soap-free commercial cleansers are very gentle. Pay attention to how your skin feels, and avoid anything that causes burning, itching, or dryness.

Meet our Yoni Bar

Our OB/GYN- and midwife-approved Yoni Bar is made with olive oil, babassu oil, and shea butter, with calendula-infused oil and apple cider vinegar.

Each ingredient is part of the thoughtful approach we bring to making our bars. We want cleansing to feel comfortable and uncomplicated.

For those who prefer a bar for external cleansing and tolerate soap well, this offers an option for their routine. Professional approval does not mean every person’s skin will respond the same way.

To use: Create a little lather in clean hands and gently wash the outer, hair-bearing skin. Avoid the inner labia and vaginal opening, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, and pat dry. Skip washcloths, scrubbing, and direct rubbing with the bar.

Allow your bar to dry fully between uses.

What our customers say

A few words shared on our Yoni Bar product page:

“Washes very clean, not drying or oily whatsoever and leaves me feeling myself. A++”
— Stacie

These are personal experiences, and everyone’s skin is different.

Meet our Yoni Oil

Our Yoni Oil combines organic castor, avocado, and olive oils with rose petals and calendula oil. It’s an optional moisturizing step for external skin that feels dry. (hbcorganics.com)

Plant oils can act as emollients, helping soften skin and reduce moisture loss. A small amount may help dry outer skin feel smoother and more comfortable. This is skin moisturization, rather than a treatment for vaginal dryness or infection; botanical ingredients can also irritate sensitive skin.

One customer shared:

“Its very soothing and moisturizing after shaving and I love the rose petals in the bottle.”
— Sierra Johnson

How to apply Yoni Oil

  1. Patch-test first on a small area away from your genitals before introducing it to sensitive skin.
  2. After washing, gently pat the area dry.
  3. Place a drop or two onto clean fingertips, keeping the dropper from touching your skin.
  4. Smooth a thin layer over intact outer, hair-bearing skin or the bikini line where moisture is needed. Avoid the inner labia, urethral opening, and vaginal opening.
  5. Use only as needed, and stop if you notice stinging, redness, or itching.

Never insert Yoni Oil into the vagina. Avoid freshly nicked or irritated skin after shaving. Oil can weaken latex condoms, so keep it away from latex barriers. (health.clevelandclinic.org)

You can pair the bar and oil if both agree with your skin, but neither step is necessary for everyone. Water alone may be your best fit.

Care that respects your body

Your body deserves care without shame or pressure to smell a certain way. Start simply, wash gently, and let comfort guide you.

Persistent itching, burning, unusual discharge, or a new strong odor deserves a conversation with your healthcare provider. Soap and oil should not be used to cover up symptoms or treat an infection. (nhs.uk)
